OMG the best by FAR! idk if it’s that I’m finally invested or that I love Chaol as a character but I flew through this book!!

I read Volume 5, Empire of Storms, and Volume 6, Tower of Dawn, in the recommended tandem read – that is, both books in parallel in certain sections. And what can I say: it's worth it! The plot makes much more sense this way, as the stories run concurrently and you don't fall into a void from a cliffhanger.

The narrative strands are varied, full of revelations, new characters and familiar faces. Reading them in tandem creates an even bigger picture, almost like a jigsaw puzzle where pieces suddenly and unexpectedly fall into place. I was particularly impressed by how each character gets their own moments and how the tension steadily builds towards the finale.

I really enjoyed both volumes – reading them in tandem made the whole experience even more intense and exciting for me. Now I'm looking forward to the grand finale even more!

I wasn’t sure what to expect but I really enjoyed this. Total Chaol redemption arc — finally. Yrene was amazing, and I loved watching her and Chaol’s relationship develop.

Sartaq and Nesryn were such a nice surprise too (also: the rukhin are so cool??). The plot twists were subtle but super satisfying, especially seeing earlier threads come full circle.

The ending hit me hard — Chaol finding out about Aelin’s letter, Sartaq nearly dying… emotional damage. Quiet book, but powerful. Wouldn’t skip it.
