Effie is precious and I love that even when she feels BIG feelings, she tries to figure them out - mostly. Haha! I'm looking forward to more of these books!

The second book in this series is continuing the greatness! This is such a fun, compulsively readable story about a young girl just now stepping into her witch powers. The plot in this one is particularly relatable (I feel like we all as youngsters watched our friend make new friend(s) and had to learn how to deal with the corresponding jealousy). Once again, I read this in a single sitting and loved it! My favorite scene was the meeting with all the witches from around the city. Such a fun vibe, and my soul wishes this story was real so I could join in the circle. ◡̈

Round two and I loved the story even more. Escabassee widens the world around Effie, to include other witches in the community and new school friends. Magic and heartfelt lessons abound in this neat present of a story. I've told my library to order the third one so I can read it!

4.5 Just like the first one, this has great artwork and characters. In fact, new characters are added to the story. I enjoyed this. Especially now that we see how Lion got his name. It just didn’t grab me like the first one. But overall this is a fun series.

The second Witches of Brooklyn is just as fun as the first, adding depth to the world of Effie and her aunts while continuing to ground that world in real-life struggles that will be relatable for its target audience.

I was especially fond the additional lore this one gave us—the idea of witches in community working together to help out the city as opposed to being a secret cabal of loners who just kinda hang out and do tricks was lovely—and Escabasse's art continues to pop with bold color and expressive character designs. A great read for kids and grown-ups too.

Charming story of finding common ground and working together. I love that all the witch friends were from helping professions and backgrounds. Aunt Ma’s retirement plan sounds o.k. By me! :)
Looking forward to more in this series.
My only quibble was the asterisks and references to book one. That was just annoying to me.
LOVE LION!! He’s every kitty’s dream :)
