As I've said for the last two books in this series, I felt that Ruin and Rising was a little flat for me. Again, though, Bardugo is so good at weaving a story, so I never felt inclined to abandon the read at all, but I felt for some reason that I was a little detached from the story. I think, though, that this was definitely a little more fast-paced and interesting for me than Siege and Storm, and for that, I'd give this a 3.5. Still engaging and appealing to me!

Read the first half and found sth I didn't like, so I put the book aside for like a month. Then I came back to it and enjoyed the following chapters, the first plot twist shook me, and the second one I should have seen coming but I didn't, and it shook me almost as much as the first one. They felt a bit deus-ex-machina for me, and the story had a too-happy ending, I expected more people to die, especially the second main character. Overall I liked it and highly recommend it.

Fav. quote: "We put on our best clothes and die like heroes".

The book in general was really good, I just don’t know how I feel about the ending yet. Wasn’t expecting things to go the way they did
