Redeeming Love is a beautiful story mirroring the story of Hosea from the Bible. While it is very dark and deals with several sexual themes, it is less explicit than most romance written today. Two of the themes that I think were handled very well in this book are religious bigotry and the idea that one’s Savior must be God and not another person. Instead of siding with the judgmental churchgoers, this book focuses on the redemptive power of God. When Angel begins to see Michael as her savior, God pulls her away to find Him. All that being said, this is a fantastic book, but take the content warnings seriously.

This was such a hard and dark book, it made me cry and I am not okay. But it was SOOOOOO GOOD. 

Done through a very solid understanding/retelling of the book of Hosea, it deals with a lot of hard topics and trauma, and redemption and healing. It was so beautiful, and spoke to my heart. I honestly can't believe it took me this long to read it after having it be recommended by a friend years ago.

That being said, though I wouldn't say there are graphic details, there is a lot of mentions of very adult themes like sex trafficking.

I read this in the fourth grade after someone from church bought it for my mom and she didn’t read the blurb before letting me steal it. Explaining prostitution to other 9 year olds was a bonding experience for me and my psyche tbh. 
I will never look at the conversation my mom and my teacher had bragging about how I was reading such a large book the same after learning that those christian wilderness therapy groups give this book to girls who have been raped 😭 redeeming love my ass he was just another guy who ignored her saying no
