This book was a bit of a letdown. There was a lot of telling rather than showing in this book. Like being told the FMC was just so kind and compassionate and brave while the MMC is so rational and logical (but can still fight, of course) due to being a scientist. Just fell a little flat.

Also, this book is called freeing Luka and he was free for like 75% of the book.

The MMC made a decent effort into learning human customs and adapting his courting style to suit her whereas Alice made almost no effort and really didn’t give him much grace when he courted her differently than she’s used to (even though she was the one on an alien planet). The overarching plot was also very lackluster, I feel like it didn’t really build off what was laid down in the first book. Still, the writing style is very easy to get into and stay into, I read the whole thing in about five hours. Will probably read the third book when I’m in the mood for a familiarly tame alien romance story with a big possessive MMC and a slightly annoying, trying to be independent, FMC.

I enjoyed the beginning and the end. The middle dragged a little but it was cute overall. I like the FMC setting boundaries, but it felt like Alice overshadowed Luka ALOT. I love it when men cater to their women, and I also love fierce FMCs, but his personality was essentially blank.
