The first audiobook my boys and I listened to together. What a delight, although there were some topics touched on that perhaps were a little mature for them at 8 and 10. They were thrilled to hear our friend Jodi mentioned multiple times! We loved it, and want to read more books by "Jodi's friend Sy!"

Very emotional, with moments of beautiful hope and devastating despair in the life of the author. I love the way she ties everything to different animals that she owned or met in her travels, but the chapters that spoke to me the most were those on her dogs. Having two of my own, I felt particularly touched by the lessons she shared in her journey there. Overall, a good book that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys memoirs and has a love of animals.

Listened to it on a road trip back from PA. Many delightful parts from someone who clearly loves all creatures (mostly non human). some sad parts but lovely tribute To the creatures the author has gotten to know and love.

Who would have thought that a cute book with illustrations of animals could make me so emotional?!?

I was particularly attached to Octavia the octopus and teared up as we were introduced to Thurber.

Sy seems like such a cool woman. I may even read some of her other books
