I loved this. Admittedly, I haven't read many (any?) slice of life from this voice, so it feels refreshing, like an intimate peek into unique experiences.

oh, how SEEN this book made me feel. i've been really going through it as of late so this quick story about what's basically the loving girl gang of my dreams felt like a mug of hot cocoa for my spirit. i saw myself in each of these wonderful characters (who i hope we see again in another book or even just a webcomic, please please please) and it was so therapeutic to let myself cry when some emotional scenes literally had me like "she's just like me for real". truly loved this book

A great read, sometimes fun, sometimes emotional, and constantly celebrating Black women, their hair, and their friendships with each other. The part with Cookie and her grandma made me cry in the best way.

I think I liked the idea of this more than the execution. The art was really pretty, and it was a nice pallet cleanser in the middle of all my spooky October reads, but I'll forget about it in a week.

The most relatable graphic novel I’ve ever read and it almost made me cry!

I’ve been wanting to read this since I saw the cover. I was so excited when I saw it in my local library. Instant grab. The illustrations are absolutely amazing. The attention to details. The way the curls are in the hair, the different body types, the clothes, all the small little details made this book for me. The book follows a group of 4 friends. Each has their own short story and the last story is them coming together.  I’m the end I felt like I wanted more. I know these are very short stories/ graphic novel but I feel like the story line for a couple of the friends could have been more in depth. While I really enjoyed the artwork, there were a few pages with just art that I feel could have been used to expand on the storyline.  Overall I liked the book.
