Me encanta la poesía slam. Me partió el corazón cuando se encontraron en la escuela, fue muy triste. Y también fueron tristes las referencias a su padre y a su madre.
Las partes de Slam fueron buenísimas.

Listened to the audio book. I did not care for the reader, I did not care much for the story either. The main character is 18, and she definitely acts like it. It was hard to relate to such an immature person acting like an adult. Would not recommend and would not re-read.

Since I have recently discovered how amazing Colleen Hoover's writing is, I have been steadily making my way through her backlist, and picked up Slammed which is one of her earliest books I believe. This story follows Layken who has recently been forced to pick up and move across the country with her mom and younger brother after the sudden death of her father. She meets Will, her new next door neighbor, and they instantly have a connection but forces outside of their control put a sudden halt to their developing romance.

I enjoyed the story, and was entertained until the end. I did figure out one big plot twist pretty early on but it didn't take away from my enjoyment. As well, I have always had a love of writing poetry myself so the poetry included throughout the book was an added bonus for me.

While I did enjoy Layken and Will's relationship and could understand their frustrations, I found that sometimes their reactions to situations were slightly unrealistic or immature and I admit I did roll my eyes a couple of times while reading. Aside from that, it was a solid 4 star read. Not as jaw droppingly amazing as November 9 or It Ends With Us but still great!
