This might have been the worst book I’ve read, but Lulu told me to read it so the two stars are for Lulu
My second Colleen Hoover book in a row. Let me tell you I will never read another thing by this woman when I'm on my period. Period. ALL LE CREYS.
I've read this book through and through in one single morning. It was so short that I was expecting character underdevelopment, insta-love and all that sort of things that young-adult contemporaries are known for, and boy was I wrong. The characters were deliciously outlined, every one of them. Even the little kids. The plot felt real, well developed and well paced. I found myself crying every now and then because of the connection the author established between the reader and the characters, even if you have never experienced something similar to what Lake goes through- I currently am, but I'm sure I would have cried even if I wasn't.
Now, I wasn't sure what I could expect from a "new-adult" book, because, honestly I don't know what makes a book "new-adult". The fact that one of the protagonists is in college? The sex content? I somehow feel that these are books that transition between young-adult contemporaries and adult romantica, but none wants to call them "romantica". Aaanyway, they are a good transition. At least the few I've read consciously knowing they are new-adult.
This is not the last book I will read by Hoover.

I'm going to explain why I give just 3 stars to this book. First of all, I read Maybe Someday just 4 days ago and that story is too perfect for me. Second of all, the main characters drove me crazy with their insecurities and their drama (on their relationship). On the other hand, I love the way Kel and Caulder made easy the tense moments because of their innocence. I love Eddie too. She is the perfect minor character.
If I can get Ridge out of my mind, I hope enjoy with the second part of the Will and Layken's story.
PS: I didn't know a lot about slam but now I am so curious about it.

Fun read. I enjoyed reading the poetry and having to think about things through a different perspective. There were definitely a few parts where their immaturity and age was apparent, but it was still an overall fun book that I would recommend to a CoHo fan. YA- No spice.
Not too bad. Don’t think I’ll continue this series until I’m done with my current TBR. Wasn’t grabbing enough to strop my current list to finish it.
Pleasantly surprised! I normally don't care much for books like this but I was quite happy with this one. Sure, it was predictable but that didn't stop it from being intriguing.
