Suko na ko.

Napanuod ko yung movie before ko 'to nabasa. Ang ganda ng movie... sobrang dami ng binago from the book. Pero I'm so glad madami silang binago kasi sobrang di ko naintindihan yung kwento. I'm sorry to say.. the book was a huge disappointment. Di ko maintindihan kung bakit sobrang nagustuhan to ng mga kaibigan ko. Pero after ko syang basahin.. naguluhan tlga ako. The plot is okay... but the manner of writing is... i actually don't know how to describe it. Basta magulo. Hayssss.

description

Cliche or not. Badly written or not. I still like the book. I mean really. I enjoyed it. Quite a lot actually. It even made me cry. It made me think of teenage love again. The pa twee-tums kind of story gave me a breather from my game of thrones madness.

I don't know why but this one got a lot of hate from the review section. I get the one's who are giving constructive criticism because the story really does need some improvement but the others are just plain rude.

I am not a judgmental person when it comes to books. I don't care if a book is full of cliche scenes, full of grammatically incorrect sentences, badly spelled words, and overly loaded with emoticons, as long as it has a story to tell I'll still read it nonetheless. At least the author gave her all in producing such a nice story like Athena and Kenji's story. At least she spent her days thinking of how to hone her talent more in writing, not like some other people who have nothing else to do but to point out other's short comings and masked their hateful and harsh words in a socially acceptable term called giving a 'REVIEW' but really, all they are doing is just sugarcoating it and just plainly bashing and hating on someone else's work and success.

It has been so long since I've read this book. I first stumble upon this book in wattpad and it was still free at that time.

All I know is that this book got me crying.

I am glad I was able to read it BEFORE it was a movie and BEFORE I saw the movie.

So, you know whenever you watch a kids' show you find plainly stupid (Dora the Explorer, for instance) and the next thing you know you're completely hypnotized and lured by the end of it? That's what happened to me tonight with this book.

I nearly gave up on this one. My only motivation was my curosity that forced me to flip pages just so I'd know what would happen next. Despite that, I must say that I did not at all like this book. I think it's safe to say that it is pretentious and cliche. I get that they're trying to feed us with bits of Koreanovela cuteness, which we Filipinos love, but I don't think it worked quite right. Too predictable. And the ending is seriously a rip-off of a popular book/movie (hint: it's by Nicholas Sparks). In addition, I found a lot of moments corny and found myself 'wtf-ing' a lot. I think that a big factor that contributed that caused this is because the story was being rushed. The storyline was good and a lot could have been done to it but everything happened so quickly that there was not enough time for character development. Also, don't get me started on the dialogue. And the excessive use of "?!"'s.

I cannot compare it to the original Wattpad version because I have not read that. I'm assuming that it had better pacing in the Wattpad version (and that it is generally better) because there is not much limit unlike the published book. (idk im just guessing lol)

All in all, I would say that I'm happy that this online story was successfully published. It inspires young writers to show their work and it is great that there are social networking communities that are able to cater these demands.
Please don't immediately turn down this book because of my fairly low rating. I think this story deserves to be read, it is just a matter of a reader's likes and dislikes. Happy reading!

Love the Filipino version better but this one's great, too.

This was the first book I read that made me sob so hard. The storyline was just phenominal. I love how the characters were growing throughout the story. I really enjoyed it.

I was not expecting the book to move me, at all... I guess it's because I've been harboring my opinion regarding fanfiction here in the Philippines. I read english books by foreign authors all the time, so reading this one and actually loving it came as a surprise for me. Will review more when I can process things in a better light :)
