Ugh, this book is poetic and pulling all the right heart strings for me.

David however is an complete asshole once you´re deeper into the novel. I do understand where he is coming from, but for fucks sake, get your shit together. He has ruined so many people throughout that I keep wondering how he did not learn anything from his past mistake. Poor Giovanni, poor Hella and poor dude from David´s earlier life. All of those people have issues of their own, but they would´ve been better off not being associated with the main character at all.

If I had to badly summarize the plot, this book is about toxic masculinity and the tale of desperately needing therapy.

I can see why this is a classic as the writing is artistic, and the emotions extracted by the subject matter are intense. However, the pace of the novel was not for me (very slow) and all of the characters seems a little more stereotypical than realistic. Not my cup of tea, but if you like emotionally intense books with an aura of mystery you'd probably like it. Please read trigger warnings before reading!
