This was adorable. It gave me such vibes of when I was younger and loved the Powepuff Girls, like hardcore loved them. The art style is great and I'm excited to continue reading!

*I received a copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review*

If you've read any of my previous comic reviews, you know how much I love comics that are about ladies, by ladies. I'm not sure if this is co-written by a woman, or if she is just the illustrator, but I think it's crucial that comics about women have women on their creative team! And this one does!

Jonesy is a quirky story about a teenage girl who has the ability to make people fall in love with anyone or anything, except her. It's a fun read, with a female friendship that I assume will get even better with time. It's diverse! Jonesy is Latina and her best friend is a black lesbian. Her other friend is also a POC. All in all, i'd recommend it to fans of Lumberjanes and Giant Days. Or anyone who is just getting into comics. I loved it!

This was great! I loved Jonesy as a snarky, too-cool-for-everything main character, and what I liked even more was how /not/ heteronormative this is! It's an all-ages comic where people are asked "Do you have a boyfriend? Girlfriend?" (No nonbinary option given, unfortunately.) And one of the side characters (a girl) has a crush on another girl and it's super cute! Such a great mix of cotton candy and sarcasm.

The cutest thing I've read in probably forever and geez Louise, did I need it today. Her dad owns a donut shop. She makes friends with one of the popular girls (kind of by accident). She has a crush on a Ziggy Stardust-ish character. She has a ferret.

All the *heart eyes emojis*

Ugh, I liked this so much.

It was so adorable and quirky and salty and sweet.
I took this out to local middle schools in January/February 2020, and although my booktalk mostly focused on the major plot element of the first issue, I felt the need to include a quick runthrough of Things Jonesy's Into:
Zines, Anime & Manga, her pet Ferret (Rocky), and her Dad's Doughnut Shop.
Just seeing that list gives you a pretty good window into the character.

Jonesy's feelings are EPIC and you feel that looking at her. I dug a bunch of the secondary characters too! This first volume is a super strong start to a nice three-volume run.

Solid.
