It was awkward reading about Jami considering the last book was about her dad. I liked this one because it is still getting easier to keep track of the characters. Although, I wasn't a huge fan of going back to the perspective of people who weren't the main characters...that was a bit much to try and keep track of. Still smut, still hockey.

I wasn't sure I was going to like this story. The author pushed all my buttons and then took it a bit farther. I was happy that Jami got her story, she's like a little girl lashing out at everything and anything in her way. Sebastian is like a cool breeze washing over her though, and adding in the roughneck of Luke makes this threesome work. Although work is what it's going to take to keep this alive. Jami isn't the only one that has issues, Luke does too, and Sebastian has his own backstory that comes out. Ms. Sommerland has taken difficult and hard lessons in life and made them into a story you can love, learn from and know that trust and communication will make any "normal" relationship into a magnificent one. Will there be a face off between the three? Or will they move over the ice into the goal of their lives?

Excuse me while I take a breath and slow my heartbeat before I write my review.............
Wow! Where to start has my mind spinning.

Jami, the daughter of the GM of the Cobras and in so many ways, your typical young woman trying to find her place in the world, rebellious, determined, cocky. You will love her.

Luke, a Left Wing on the Cobra's. Hockey is everything to him. Winning and proving himself. The only thing that matters more is his mother. He will make you laugh.

Sebastian, a Defense player on the team and the catalyst that brings the three of them together. Erotically handsome and an extreme Dominant. Trying to keep his sexual preferences out of the tabloids. He will make you hot all over!

The 3 of them COLLIDE

You have the tension of the game, the craziness of everyone and everything involving the Cobras, the fireworks going off between Sebastian, Luke and Jami. Now throw in a crazy stalker after Jami.
Every part of this book is 'Read Till Your Eyes Roll In Your Head' because you just can't stop. It is that good.

My only problem was some editing problems where words were out of place. Example: "Her last words mumbled words had him grinning at Seb."

Don't let that keep you from reading it. You don't want to miss the experience of this story. It's just that profoundly and strikingly delicious!

Breakaway is the third book in the Dartmouth Cobras series, and so far has been my favorite. While it's possible to read this book as a standalone, I highly discourage it; every book builds upon each other and you'll really miss out on all of the connections and relationships if you don't read them as Ms. Sommerland wrote them.

What surprised me the most about this book is how different it was compared to the previous books of this series. While Breakaway still had all of the kinky erotic sex that the previous book did, this one included a M/M relationship in with the M/M/F, as well as an added suspense twisted into the plot. The character of this book (as with the previous books) are very dimensional and have their own insecurities to overcome. Ms. Sommerland did an amazing job writing the heroes as good stand up men who enjoy dominating Jami while also loving her and cherishing her. Too often the heroes D/s stories are scary and lack emotion, that is not the case with these books. It's hard to image before you begin to read but these books contain a lot of sweet BDSM, if there was ever such a thing.

If you're into hot hockey players, kinky sex than will melt you from the inside out, and a with men that cherish the one they're with...this is the story for you!

*I recieved this book in exchange for my honest opinions*

This review is based on a re-read, and not my initial feelings after a first read.

Some minor spoilers may occur, but no plotline spoilers.

This is my third re-read of this story. It feels familiar and comforting. That's not to say it isn't intense, especially the SM scenes. I just know I will enjoy the characters, and the storyline.

On deeper reflection and careful re-reading I've found that this doesn't feel like a story between the three of them. It feels like a story between Luke and Seb, with Jami as a distraction. And that is unfortunate (for Jami). I imagine in the future, Jami slipping away and it being just the two men.

I don't feel that Jami is mature enough to be committed in a way that says forever. I feel like she is in this purely because Seb and Luke give her the freedom to explore her kink without guilt or judgment. That's not to say she doesn't love them both, but that she isn't in it for the long haul. I just wasn't convinced.

Luke and Seb are hot together. I found I was more interested in their relationship development than anything with Jami. I enjoyed Luke's slow acceptance of himself, and even with his angst, he comes into his own sexuality in a believable way.

I didn't quite believe in Jami's and Luke's connection. It felt more like a circumstantial thing, because Seb wanted them both, not really a deeper connection between the two.

Overall the character development is strong. I am shown what I need to see. I feel like I know these characters well. I like Ms Sommerland's writing style, and enjoy all the character personalities. The best thing about this series is that there are other characters POV besides the main three. it allows us to see how things are going for couples in the previous books, and also characters we will see in books to come.
