I enjoyed this SO MUCH. I felt so much nostalgia being back in Frell with new and familiar characters. Of course, Ella Enchanted will always remain my favorite, but I just loved every minute of this!

I enjoyed Ogre Enchanted! I don’t think anything could have lived up to Ella Enchanted, but it was nice to get some background on some of the older characters in Ella Enchanted.

Ogre didn’t flow quite as smoothly as Ella, and I found the heroine a bit less likable/relatable. The romance also fell short in Ogre, particularly when compared to the rich romance in Ella. I wasn’t a fan of the “tingle” theme, as opposed to the friendship built by Ella and Char. Just not my taste.

I would still recommend it for those looking for more of Levine’s writing and stories of Frell/Kyrria. Recommended for young readers!

Evie is a healer. She and her best friend Wormy live in Jenn. They are happy there until the day that Wormy proposes to Evie. Evie, having not thought much of marriage yet, turns him down. Unfortunately, Lucinda, the most irresponsible fairy godmother ever, was watching. Lucinda turns Evie into an ogre with just two months to find someone to marry her in order for her to be changed back. Evie sets out on a quest to see about finding someone to love her.

This is a prequel to Ella Enchanted, which I adored as a child. The prequel features a new set of characters, though it does have a lot of cameos of some of the parents of the characters we know and love from Ella Enchanted.

The book was cute. It's middle grade, so obviously the language and plot are rather simple, but I found that it gave it charm. I absolutely loved catching up to the world of Ella Enchanted again, and the new characters were lovely. Wormy was so wonderful. Overall, the book was just an adorable fairytale that recaptured the magic of one of my favourite childhood series.

A beloved author from my childhood - I think I searched in high school and read all of her books that I could find. With two library systems at my disposal now, I was pleasantly surprised to find more that I hadn't heard of. Strange to think of, this far into the Information Age. At any rate, this takes place in the same universe as Ella Enchanted, and partially in the same kingdom of Frell. The same dangerously generous fairy is at fault again as well. A girl refuses a proposal of marriage (at 15!) and the fairy curses her to be an ogre until someone proposes to her and she accepts -- with a deadline of 60 days. She learns ogre skills from a roaming band of ogres, steals meat sticks, heals a farm and then a whole kingdom. Throughout the book, she struggles with the hate and fear from others, as well as her own stench.
