Not Bad

There were some strong parts to this story. I liked the overall story and it was exciting. Where it fell flat was character development. Aly was declaring her love way too quickly. Cole was boomeranging back and forth with decisions without any explanation. I will be reading the next book though.

Illusions: by J.C Thompson

Let me just tell ya, this book has me hooked! I give it 4.5 stars!! This is the first book of the series. I seriously, couldn't put it down!! I can't wait to see what happens in the second book! I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It was well written and very intriguing characters!
Aly, is the "Princess" of the family, She is the only female amongst a family of men. Her mother died when she was a baby. So, in her father's and brother's eyes... She can do no wrong !! But Aly has a secret...
Cole, is her brother's business partner and friend. He is swearing off relationships since his bitter divorce. But the attraction to Aly is undeniable!
When Cole and Aly meet, their attraction to one another is smoking hot!! The pair, met in a very unconventional way! But they can't seem to stay away from one another. The sex scenes here, will make your blush!
But will Cole and Aly's relationship last when he finds out her secret? What will her family think?
Book ends in a bit of a cliffhanger, but it makes you look forward to more!! I can't wait to see what happens with Cole and Aly!

Illusions by JC Thompson is a first book in the Club series. The book is set in beautiful L.A and is the story of Aly and her brothers best friend Cole.

"Who am i? Well that depends on who you ask. To some I am the "princess" I do no wrong, I follow the rules."

Aly was the only female growing up with 2 brothers and there dad, she is the family "princess", always perfect. She is sick abd tired of it so she moved to L.A where she opens the upscale nightclub Illusions with her best friend.

Cole is Alys older brother Nates bestfriend and business partner of 10 years.

"How many guys can stand in a room with a woman in lingerie, touching her and not even try to rake advantage of her?"

Aly and Cole meet at her upscale nightclub Illusions for a night of passion, without knowing who each other is. There story kicks off from there with them meeting and not telling her family how they really met, its an emotional well written Rollercoaster of a story.

The Author really pulls you in with the characters emotions, the secondary characters are just as well written as Aly and Cole are. I was able to read the whole book in one day it pulled me in that much, i loved the dul POV and the book did end on a cliffhanger but i would definitely recommend this book and give it a 4 out of 5 great stars, i cannot wait to read the next book in the series Shattered Illusions.

This was a first book from JC Thompson and was a fantastic book to start with.

Illusions by J C Thompson

4.5 star review.

The first book in a new series, Illusions by J C Thompson is all about Aly and Cole. The story is excellently written and is written from both characters POV, a writing style that I always enjoy! The book had some great descriptive writing in it and this captured my interest from the very beginning. I found it extremely hard to put down and I read it in a few hours. The synopsis of this book dragged me in but once I started reading I was hooked.

The story is about Aly and Cole and takes place over a relatively short period of time. Having grown up in an all-male household Aly found it difficult to be a girl! She was their ‘Princess’ and no one or nothing was good enough for her – having finally escaped her very loving but over protective father and brothers, Aly now co-owns an upscale nightclub ‘Illusions’ with her best friend, Zac. Illusions has a secret VIP area and this is where Aly first meets Cole.
Cole is part of a stressful business and fresh from opening a new office he heads to Illusions where he hopes to destress by getting more than a drink and taking advantage of their VIP package. What Cole doesn’t bank on is meeting a woman he can’t resist who then turns out to be his best friends and business partners little sister. They call her Princess – he knows that she’s anything but.
I absolutely loved the introduction to Cole from Aly’s POV. I think it has got to be the best introduction to a character ever! I really could imagine what he looked like. If this doesn’t make you want to read this book nothing will!!

‘Just as the door clicks open, I look up from under my eyelashes. Suddenly I can’t breathe, and it’s not my nerves this time, it is the man in front of me that has taken my breath away. He is tall, easily six foot four. His hair is light, not quite blonde, but not really brown. He has the bluest eyes; they aren’t dark, more like crystal-blue. Those lips – oh god those lips; they are full and look so f****ing soft. The scruff on his face is maybe a couple of days old, making him look more like a man. I want to feel that scruff on my thighs, my stomach, and anywhere else he wants to put his mouth. His arms aren’t overly huge, but they are big enough to have images of him holding me against a wall play through my mind. As my eyes slowly make their way down the rest of him, I see the definite outline of his hardening c*** behind his zipper. From the looks of it, his height isn’t the only thing that is impressive. When my eyes finally make their way to his face, I see his knowing smirk. “Like what you see, Kitten?” Oh. God, even that voice is sexy.

As soon as I read this I was hooked right until the very last page when I saw those 3 dreaded words every reader hates ….. ‘To Be Continued’. I honestly cannot wait to see what happens in the next book. I’m sure it going to be as hot and addictive as book 1.
The author has a great writing style that I found kept my interest throughout the whole book, the characters were likeable and as it is written from both of their POV I feel you get to know what each of them is thinking and how they are feeling more than if it was written from just one characters POV. The story flowed well and had a great pace. It really was a fantastic story.

I would definitely recommend Illusions by J C Thompson, you will not be disappointed.

Illusions (The Club Series, Volume 1) by JC Thompson is the first story in The Club Series. This story is about living your life the way you want. This story will make feel sadness, its full of excitement and just plain sexy hotness. This story will show you that if you want something bad enough, you are willing to fight for it.

Aly Thomas is a young woman who owns half of her own business, an upscale nightclub. She grew up with two brothers and a father. They call her princess because that's what they think she is but is she really? They want her to come into their business that they are part owner of with their friend. Usually she doesn't meet her customers outside of work but what will happen when she sees that he is her brothers partner? What will happen? Is is lust at first sight?

Cole Davidson is part owner of a business that he runs with two of his friends. He was looking to blow off some steam one night so he enters into her business and meets her. He can't seem to get her out of his head, he has to have her. What will he do when he meets his friends little sister? He can't believe his eyes, its her. Will he be able to stay away from her? Will he keep his hands to himself?

Aly and Cole's relationship is one of hot sexy lust. Their story will completely pull you into their world. You will need to find out what happens next with them. Will have a chance? What will her family say? Will he win her over? She is her family's princess but what is she to him?

This is my first read by JC Thompson. JC lives with in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, two children and a houseful of pets. She loves to read and write and when she is not doing that she usually has her nose in a book reading. This story is a fast reading story that will take you on a journey that you will never forget. I highly suggest this story as I know you will enjoy reading it as much as I have.

Illusions is the first book in the Club Series, by J.C Thompson. It is a sexy story that is full of suspense, mystery and a lot of steamy romance.
Aly’s mother died when she was a baby and so Aly grew up in a home full of overprotective men- her father and two brothers. In the eyes of her family Aly is perfect, an ideal daughter and sister- who can do no wrong. She is their “Princess”.
Sick and tired of having to live up to her ‘Perfect Princess’ reputation and always following the rules, Aly decides to move across the country and set up a new life. Together, with her best friend Zac, they open a club called Illusions. Although their business appears to be an upscale nightclub on the surface, it’s what happens behind the scenes in the exclusive VIP rooms that sets it apart. It is in these rooms that Aly can let go of her “Perfect Princess” label and fully embrace the Naughty Vixen she really is.
Cole is overworked and stressed out from opening a new branch office in the city. So, what better way to decompress and unwind than to experience the VIP services of the club he has heard so much about. When Cole encounters Aly at the club, sparks fly and they have an instant sizzling connection. Cole isn’t looking for a relationship, in fact after a rally messy divorce and a difficult ex-wife he really doesn’t want anything more than a ‘hook-up’. So why can’t he stop thinking about her and the passionate night they spent together?
Things get even more interesting when Aly goes to meet her brothers for breakfast the next morning and finds Cole is also there- as he is her brothers’ best friend and business partner. Aly is shocked to say the least. Cole knows about her secret life and that secret would shock and disappoint her family if they were ever to find out. Can she trust him to be discreet? Aly and Cole decide they must stay away from each other, but they can’t- their desire for one another is too great. Cole feels a need to care for and protect Aly and she feels drawn to Cole like a moth to a flame. Add a manipulating ex-wife, blackmail, danger and a heap of sexual tension to this mix and the story really soared and drew me in.
This book is well written, with fully developed characters and storyline. It is edgy and intense at times- I found myself on the edge of my seat devouring the pages to find out what happened next. I couldn’t put it down and read the whole book in a day. The story ends on a huge cliff hanger and I really can’t wait to continue Aly and Coles’ story in the next book.

Illusions by J.C. Thompson begins in a very profound way. The first paragraph in the prologue grabbed my attention and made me think, well, about life! The story is told as a dual POV and ends in a cliffhanger.

Aly is a princess that has grown up in a house full of men since her mother passed away when she only a few months old. Dating was an issue for her, as many tried, but failed the Father/Brother first inspection. She craved a life where she gets to make all her own decisions, but really loves being treated like a princess and therefore will put up with her family’s protectiveness.

Cole is Aly’s brothers’ friend and business partner. He is a guy who knows what he wants, but holds back to the point of foregoing his own happiness, as he is afraid to put himself in the position to be taken advantage of. He is full of good intentions and wants to do what he feels is right, even though he knows it will hurt Aly, but his hesitation is no match for the feelings he has for her.

“I’ve always wanted a kiss that made me feel like I was flying”.

Aly and Cole’s first meeting was sexy and powerful, with both of them leaving lasting impressions. Little did they know that they would be seeing each other again, and learning a few little surprises along the way.

And then Chaos reigns supreme! The twists in this story were plentiful. The story rollsalong steadily, and then all of a sudden, these dramas begin and the author gives subtle hints throughout the book. As the excitement builds, I was drawn into Cole and Aly’s story as if I were a part of it with them. The author had the ability to hold my attention, my curiosity was stretched and I just had to know what was to happen.

“Aly, I couldn’t leave things the way they were. I needed to see you again. Put this on, and get on the bed. Cole”.

The surprises were endless, and the emotions this author provokes , sometimes to the point where I wanted to jump through and give these characters a good shake, was utterly mesmerising and entertaining.

This book was packed full of suspense, drama, humour and sexiness. There was moderate violence and the sexual moments were quite descriptive, without being the sole focus of the plot. Although the pace was steady, in no way was I left feeling that something was missing, as the author had me totally enthralled with her ability to have me literally hanging onto every word and wanting to rush through the book to learn what Fate had in store for Cole and Aly.

“That is what pairs bert with wine”.

This is the first book I have read by J.C Thompson, and let me just say that it was a very pleasing discovery. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I am highly anticipating the next book, Shattered Illusions, which is the continued journey of Cole And Aly, which is coming this winter.
