I stated listening to this audiobook but found it hard to follow as it jumps from the two different characters without always making it clear as to who is talking/thinking. I’m not sure if that is a textual issue or just from transferring it to audiobook. DNF.

First in series - Profesorowa Szczupaczyńska
Audiobook (All of my entries on The Story Graph are audiobooks.)
Why I added this book to my TBR pile: A Polish cozy mystery! I was very excited when I found this (probably a TSG recommendation.) It wasn't quite everything I wanted it to be though. I listened at 1.2 speed. It had the right elements, but I wasn't awed.
Will I read more of the series? Probably Not Maybe Highly Likely I think there is one more story translated into English (so far), so maybe I'll read it.
The narrator was Moira Quirk. I think she did well with the accents.

I bought this book secondhand here in Cracow, and I can say no regrets.
I loved the fact that the story of this bored lady, Zofia Turbotyńska, is taking place in Cracow back in 1893. You get all the description of important places - and people - in the city back at the time but which still remains accurate today.
Wanting to improve her social status, Zofia goes to Helcel House, a retirement home, where there are many aristocratic women. She hopes to leave with promises of donations, but soon finds herself confronted with the disappearance of Mrs Mohr.
But when the old lady's body is soon found lifeless, Zofia sets out to discover the reasons for her murder. After all, she did manage to catch her maid stealing sugar, so solving a murder, why not?
This is a rather amusing novel that highlights the social codes of the time while ensuring a pleasant surprise at the end.

Didn't expect myself to enjoy this as much as I did!
