Lots of life lessons, a lot of introspective, thoughtful, and wise advice delivered using humour and anecdotes. He's good at distilling technical information and making it easy for the general public to understand. It's really cool to hear an astronaut talk about his experiences.

Canadian astronaut, Chris Hadfield, became well known internationally for his version of Space Oddity, which he filmed while on board the ISS. An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth documents his journey to becoming an astronaut, exploring what it takes and what life is like as an astronaut. He also shares many of the the life lessons and the hard earned wisdom he learned along the way.

This book took me by complete surprise! I was expecting it to be overly technical, but it explored science and technology (in this case space exploration) in a very accessible way for the average reader, using everyday language.

It's possible An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth could come across as overly preachy, as he shares many life lessons in a sitcom dad kind of way. At times it felt overly repetitive, however, I enjoyed his story, especially the anecdotes of his time on the ISS.

Hadfield is a great storyteller, and comes across as a humble and likeable person who had enjoyed great success in his professional life. I highly recommend listening to the audio, as it is read by the author himself.

"In any field, it’s a plus if you view criticism as potentially helpful advice rather than as a personal attack."

Solid and enjoyable. The insight into space travel was really interesting. Overall, this was a relatively light hearted, genuine and casually uplifting read. Take your copy on holiday or to the beach!
