After the massive cliffhanger that book one left me on I have been anticipating this one like no other! I had my suspicions and my own theory about who the slasher was going to be. I went back and forth on it a few times throughout book one but at the end of it I just knew which theory was right. And even though I knew who Lakyn was going to say when asked who it was I still wasn’t fully prepared for the blow, it would land on my heart. 😔
Realizing who is lifeless on the ground before her and then who is responsible for the hell she’s been through since coming back to Hellcrest Heights - especially claiming this last victim - something snaps in Lakyn. From this point forward she will absolutely never be the same. Pieces begin to fall like a dangerous game of Tetris and none of the pieces fit with the ones below it. As they stack up getting closer to the top that life of happiness and freedom seems further and further away from her grasp.
With death at every turn and law enforcement closing in the suspense is at a constant incline and it doesn’t let up until the epilogue. With every flip of a page I was anxious about what would happen next.
Who would get unalived this time?
Would the police catch up to them now?
How long would the running last?
When would enough be enough and giving up was the only option?
Then of course the spice got even wilder somehow. Like it was already hot and heavy in the first book but once you get to this one it becomes unhinged and unfiltered. There is zero holding back now and it shows. 😳 Some of the things that are done and the places it goes down in - sweet lord they just cannot get enough lol! And the dirty talk is on point. 🤌🏻
In the end though it is one hell of a book. The “morally grey” is absolutely on the darker end of the spectrum but I ate up every second of it!
Without a doubt make sure you read through any TW/CW before starting this duet.
