I've been meaning to read this book for years, and I'm glad I finally got around to it. It was a great friendship story, and the peach orchard was such a strong setting. There was still some romance, but I thought that having the friendship between the girls as the focal point was a refreshing change. I plan on reading the sequels.

I was going to DNF this after reading a first few pages of Murphy's POV because she wasn't the type of girl I read about. I'm glad I continued because I discovered the flawed lives of Murphy, Leeda, and Birdie. Birdie was a bit of a kindred spirit. I wish I had her bravery. Leeda made some realizations and sacrifices. I didn't really love the Rex part of it but I did like Leeda. And then there is Murphy, the loyal outspoken girl who though of herself as a coward. I kind of saw myself in all these girls really. Murphy surprised me. I really enjoyed her POV. This isn't a perfect read but it certainly heightened some feelings and wants inside of me.

A cute, fun Summer read more about friendship and family than romance itself (even though it's also important in the story).
I can see why people compare it to [b:The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants|452306|The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (Sisterhood, #1)|Ann Brashares|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1388320534s/452306.jpg|1058370] and, in my honest opinion, I preferred that series to this book. However, my opinion may change as I'm planning on reading the other books in this trilogy!

This was a pretty good book that I would consider a "summer read" meaning a book that is not too deep or meaningful and doesn't take much brain power to enjoy. I didn't fall in love with the characters; they just didn't have enough color and depth for me to care what happened to them. This book was a fun brain break, but it wasn't good enough for me to want to read the second one.
