I can now say I've read Anna Karenina. I don't know what else to say. It's lovely, long, probably the best written piece of literature I've ever read but I feel like I need something incredibly light and poorly written to read now.
Proud to say that I read a Russian classic! Long and way to many names. But a good story.
Read this in conjunction with a class which helped immensely. Tolstoy is pretty good at capturing the human mind and experience, universal feelings. Some of the characters are pretty shameless. I learned a lot about Russian history too. I read the Pevear and Kolokhonsky translation.
A Fantastically modern and readable novel considering when it was written. Even though I was aware of the fate of Anna, I still spent the entire read wondering in what circumstances it would happen. I thoroughly enjoyed the journey of each character throughout the novel and how they developed and interacted.
Very enjoyable and nice to read something that requires a bit more mental engagement than a traditional "page turner".

Loved the story...the parallel of Levin and Anna really became apparent in the end. I had expected more glamour of the Russian culture, but this book is about relationships and how they impact and change people's lives...beautifully written.
