I simply picked up the books because from the summary it sounded rather interesting. I did not expect there to be so many twists and turns about the stories as new details come to light in one time, while being connected to something that then gets revealed in the other time frame. Sometimes it feels a little unbalanced in the pacing, slow one moment and fast another, but maybe that is simply connected to me reading it sporadically.
I am now definitely very interested to learn more about the Sámi people, as aspects of their culture and traditions are a theme present throughout the book, which honestly I just find quite lovely.
Overall, Land of Snow and Ashes is unlike any other book I have read before, and definitely in a good way.
