I almost abandoned this because I didn't feel like putting myself through the "I don't want my wife to wear make-up" and every character is described by an estimated BMI. Which makes sense as part of the autism spectrum disorder, but was unpleasant to read none the less. Nevermind the friend who wants to sleep with a woman from every country of the world, and to always go for women under 30. There is character development! But still. I am tired.

Psycholog  is thrown under the bus here a lot. Freud is mentioned! And evolutionary Psychology is mentioned as if it is based on Science, while so much of it is opinion. But I digress. Not to mention how the sample questionnaire has severak questions where I have more than one answer (eg. I have over 100 books, but I do most of my reading with the library).

Don's inner narrative was nice. It was pacy and engaging! I don't feel like Rosie was fully flushed out.  There was one convo where the narrative went all in on sex, but the conversation had srarted revealing some things about Rosie.

Good thing Don isn't a PhD student in epidemiology - I would have tested her dad first

Warning: alcohol is a big part of this book. Main character drinks on most pages, and you should stear clear if that is triggering. Or seek addiction treatment if you recognise yourself in Don.

I’ve had this book on my shelves for a while and I’m so glad to have finally read it.

Don is unknowingly on the spectrum. He’s smart, he’s scheduled, and he’s picky. He needed someone like his friend Gene to show him exactly what NOT to do in a relationship, someone like Claudia to give him blunt but valuable advice, someone like Dave to be a normal friend, and someone like Rosie to knock his entire world off balance.

He doesn’t need to fit into the “goofball” or the “nerd” stereotype. He can be himself and anyone worth keeping around will love him for who he truly is.
