A reread! I had this on my wishlist so I was seeing if I still would want to add it to my personal library. The answer is no, not really.

It's a good novel- I enjoy each individual character. I think what I loved most previously (and now) is the chubby Black female lead. She's wonderful and silly. I like the construction worker in a sailor moon / magical girl outfit. I hope it's not supposed to be a joke? It didn't read to me as a joke. But I could be being overly generous.

I think it's interesting that it's chaos, fighting, disbelief for the first three chapters or so, then we finally get some explanations. I also misremembered the ending - I thought they'd give the powers back, but they end up carrying forward. I want an epilogue where Amie and Kevin and Rowan DATE. But I'm a romance nut. It's not necessary to a pretty good ending.

Cute, but kind of disjointed and poorly paced. The art is stylized to the point that it's hard to follow. It felt overall like watching a cartoon on fast-forward--a fun, good one that I might quite enjoy at normal speed.

I LOVE Kate Leth and "Power Up" is no exception. So much fun, with all kinds of emotions and adventures. The art became a little hard for me to follow from time to time, likely because I'm still fairly new to reading comics, but I found it to be easier once I got through a couple chapters. Such a cool new take on the standard "random people get cool powers" trope. Recommend!

This was fun, I liked this mix of superhero and scifi-ness. I also liked the bright art although I felt the text bubbles were sometimes all over the place. I also wanted deeper stories for the alien species but maybe that is coming in future issues. Still very good and high recommend.

I wanted a little more from this - I found some bits confusing, and I also feel like it really just started clicking at the very end.

Cute, lots of good genre and genre-busting bits. This first book was about establishing the characters, who are adorable, and the situation, which is familiar. Future books will show the strength of having these unique-in-this-format-but-common-in-the-real-world people in this common "unlikely heroes will rise" comic book scenario, or will show it to be superficial diversity. Looks good and promising so far. Dialogue and art are very charming, too!
