I feel like the first 12 volumes of Lumberjanes did a really good job at interweaving the episodic nature of the camp with the overall plot and that's sort of disappeared in these latter volumes. I also suppose this one fell a little flat with me because Mal, while one of the more cautious of the campers, has never struck me as particularly and unreasonably afraid of anything except open water (and as this is a fear of mine, I get it). It felt weird to have a whole plot center around Ripley helping her overcome what has honestly not felt like a character flaw.

Mal enlists Ripley to help her have a less fearful mindset, but of course, the camp grounds have other adventures in store for the Lumberjanes

When Mal gets Ripley to teach her how to be brave, things go more than a bit awry. Roanokes to the rescue, led by (who else?) Molly. The writing is great. The artwork was not my favorite. .

Mal wants to overcome her fear and ends up leading the Roanoke on a dinosaur adventure, with a space station. They also lose the magic portal telescope.
