Story of Austin and Charlie

This is a second chance to lovers / mystery romance. This is the first book for me of Max Walker and I loved how it was a mystery.
The main characters, Austin and Charlie were quite endearing. They secretly dated but one day Charlie broke up with Austin and then Austin left town heaetbroken. Ten years later, Austin comes back to set up a branch for Stonewall Investigations. Not long after returning, Austin runs into Charlie and discover s Charlie was involved in an accident that made him lose 7 years of his memory, including all his memories of Austin.
Austin has reservations about Charlie’s accident being an accident and begins to investigate.
This is a great story, worth a read/listen. Guaranteed HEA. There are earlier series that link to this one, but you can start with this one. I’ll be going back to read the others once I finish this series.

DID NOT FINISH: 30%

Giving someone an ultimatum to come out is absolutely not cool. Wtf.

Austin you are a dick.

Also clearly he broke up with him because he wasn't ready to come out so Austin being this irrationally angry with him over the breakup is not really warranted.

Yeah can't read this and root for the guy...

"Life had different plans, and forgiveness was easier to find for me than resentment was to hold"

I love how Austin and Charlie rekindled their love! Obviously, they're meant for each other and I'm so glad they get to experience it for the second time, like who gets to even have that??

It's such a nice story with a nice twist and mystery. But I'm missing Max's epilogue touch!

Looking forward to finish this trilogy!

This was ok, I did like it but just didn’t love it.
I enjoyed the mystery element but it felt like I as the reader knew what was going on way before the characters.
The MMCs deserve their happy ever after for sure, both so sweet!
Would recommend for an easy listening start to a series and I think I will pick up the next one.

3.5 stars rounded up for Greg Boudreaux <3

I got the impression listening to this that I was missing a lot because I didn't listen to other Stonewall Investigations books, but I was still able to follow the story easily.

A more realistic amnesiac romance story! A second chance romance! Returning to your hometown! A mystery!!

This is like catnip for me. And Greg Boudreaux narrates!!!

I enjoyed this. It was well-written and moved along at a good pace. It's not the longest book so we didn't have to wait long for the couple to get, ahem, re-acquainted.

I'll definitely consider more from this author in the future!

The beginning of Stonewall in a small town called Blue Creek and a rekindling of an old romance. The last person Austin wants to see is the man who broke his heart but running quite literally into him and learning he has no memory of him, makes the wound a little rougher. An accident took Charlie’s memories away but the more Austin hears, the less he thinks if was an accident and reopening the case opens a surprising revelation about this town.

Reasons I Recommend:

1) Second chance romance, a sassy bird, and internal hatred

2) To new firsts, hidden motives, and threatening messages and

3) A surprise conclusion that brings us all the way back to the first Stonewall book in NYC.

This was not at all what I was expecting, I’m glad I went into it blindly though, because I did enjoy it. I really liked Austin and Charlie’s characters, and how understanding Austin was of Charlie’s condition and of what had happened in the past. I liked the mystery/detective aspect of this as well, as that’s not something you really see in romance very often.
