I think this one's the best so far. Van Veeteren himself finally has some character development. The crimes pretty much starting out as an accident is original and what follows is kind of sad for the killer, too.

What I really like is how much the side characters (Van Veeteren's co-workers. Or well, ex-co-workers) are in the spotlight in this series. I do really miss Munster, though. I hope he returns soon.

Fantastic Book well written and I thoroughly enjoyed it from the start.

I haven't read any Swedish crime fiction for a long time and was really looking forward to this. Unfortunately, the story didn't grip me, and at 100 pages, I was a quater of the way in and still didn't really care about the story.

I didn't get on with the writing style, although that might me down to the translation. A shame, but this one wasn't for me.

I do like these Nordic crime fictions. Good plot although Van Veeteren is not a big character in this one. Intelligent read and there is certainly a lot of action going on in this one. Certainly recommend.

The seventh in the Inspector Van Veeteren series was a very satisfying read with my joy in this character increasing with each book although I have to admit whilst he remains semi retired I wish he would return to being the centre of the investigations soon . That being said the author also has created some interesting other police characters .
Here a random hit and run on a winter night triggers a series of incidents in a plot that was well crafted and had me hooked to the very last page. Will hopefully get to book 8 soon.
