Definitely ended on a bit of a MEH note. Loved the first one much more and this one had some great action witht eh whole trials things, but then it just kind of stopped. It was like "here's this epic challenge to overcome" and then quickly turned to "lol jk nvm" I DONT KNOW - Didn't leave me all that impressed and I certainly enjoyed Harper much more in the first installment. Hoping for big things from the conclusion coming in 2016. TURN THIS AROUND RACHEL HAWKINS. PLEASE.

I really really really liked this book. Not as much as I liked Rebel Belle, but I did really like it. The ending kind of destroyed my heart and I hope there's another book because I need closure otherwise I will go insane. Bee, Harper, Ryan and David are so easy to relate to and reading about them is a lot of fun. Overall, both of these books were great and I hope that the story continues.

First read, 4 stars.

Second read, 3 stars.

There was just so much angst and drama in this book. We learned practically nothing useful about the world, there wasn't really any character development. I'm always suspicious of series where the books get shorter as it progresses, rather than longer. I'm thinking that this trilogy would have been better off as a duology, but they tried to stretch out the story, and that doesn't do anybody any favors.

3 1/2 stars. Not as good as the first one but it was fun anyway! Excited for the next one.

Rebel Belle was one of my favorite books of 2014, so obviously I was extremely excited to read the sequel. The summary hinted at lots of action with the mention of the trials Harper would need to complete, but failed to tell me that - unfortunately - this book would be mostly filler, with lots of boy/girl Drama (and yes, that capital letter is "totes" warranted). And yet, I still found myself engaged and interested and curious to see how things would play out. I liked this Harper - someone not quite as put together as we'd come to expect, who is dealing with FAR too much on her plate and also having to face a few of her flaws - and dug the strong female friendship between her and Bee. David and Harper kind of broke my heart a bit (or, okay, a lot I guess), but I liked that this thing - which is so important to Harper - didn't come easy and wasn't easily fixed. But mostly, I liked that this book kind of went in an unexpected direction, and while it hurt me as a reader, it also made me extremely interested to see what's going to come next.

This just wasn't as good as the first one, but I can't quite put my finger on why, exactly. Maybe this series would have been better as a standalone? The novelty of a BA southern belle multi-tasking heroine perhaps wore off in this one? Perhaps it was the lack of simmering sexual tension? I don't know, but I hope the next one lives up to the potential the first book created.

I finished this book more out of an aching nostalgia than an actual desire to continue the series. The consensus on this book is pretty “meh”, it wasn’t as kick-ass as the first book but it was by no means a bad book. I felt it was a lot of filler and that this could’ve just been a duology and been just as strong, if not more so than a trilogy. I still love the characters, Aunt Jewel is my favorite! Maybe it was because I hadn’t read the first book in so long or the fact that I hadn’t read too many reviews but I did enjoy this book and plan on reading the third.

4.5 Stars!

I almost gave this 5 stars because I'm dying to immediately pick up the third book after that ending (and cursing that it's not on libby so I can't). Also I actually really loved this book. BUT, I didn't like it as much as book one, and I was really annoyed during a lot of this book.

So once again I liked Harper and David and loved their relationship. I also really liked that they acknowledged that dating would be weird after hating each other their wholes lived. But there were so many communication issues which I hate! I understood Harper's and David's reasoning for choices they made, but TALK TO EACH OTHER ABOUT IT! So many of the problems that happened could've been avoided.

I was surprised by how quickly Bee rejoined the group, but I did like the dynamic of her new position, and watching her friendship with Harper grow through this new relationship dynamic was cool. But again, please learn to communicate!! By the end I was really angry with Bee, and annoyed that Harper is just breezing past everything that happened.

I also really liked seeing Harper's new relationship with Ryan. I really like them as friends and would've have been totally cool with him, if he hadn't admited to fucking CHEATING ON HER when they were still dating. And he had the AUDACITY to be so angry with Harper the night of the movies when he had just cheated on her?!? Bullshit. And he again has the audacity to be all high and mighty about Bee when he cheated on her? It makes me dislike him a lot. But I'm happy Mary Beth and him are done because she was a bitch, who again, had the audacity to freak out at her last book when she cheated with her boyfriend??? BYE BITCH.

Alexander was a new character who I despised right away. I was so annoyed that everyone kind of just went away with him, but at least it made sense as they didn't really have a choice.

As much as the ending killed me, I loved it!! I'm dying to read the next book, and so happy that there is another one and that wasn't how it all ended.
