The story telling was great, a very good use of two stories merging into one. I really loved reading from Odelle's POV and kinda found myself disliking everyone from the 1936 perspective, but the mystery kept pushing me to read. The pacing and details were very good although the detail of
Quick being not white was missed and confusing but I assume that's half of the point. Maybe a few more similarities between Quick and Teresa could have been insightful, and hints of Sarah and Issac's affair.
There was a lot of political talk I found confusing but it didn't take away meaning.
