I am biased because I have to say Moon Knight is my favorite character ever since I read the old Moench and Sienkiewicz series. Each series has taken Moon Knight through a different phase and Charlie Huston stepped-up and knocked it out of the park. We have a violent (yeah I know calling a Moon Knight series violent is a little redundant) turn here. Along with the violence we start to really crazy Mark Spector (yeah a little redundant again but it's true, trust me) showing up here. David Finch has some very fine art here as well. He adds a lot of those little details that really make an impact. Danny Miki and Frank D'Aamata both have a grear impact here as well with inks and colors as Moon Knight lives so much in shadow that their work really stands out. I am also giving a shout out to letterer Joe Caramagna too because the guys who do the lettering never get a shout out!!

I actually read this back when the individual issues first came out, but decided a re-reading was in order when the latest issues were dubbed one of the best comics of 2014 The way the story is laid out here can be a bit confusing--it's very 'cinematic'--meaning there are overlapping scenes and dialog that can take some patience to sort out. Still, this is one of my favorite books overall. David Finch, who worked on the 'Dark Knight' comics, worked on this--and that is evident in the artwork. A lot of reviews toss out the Batman comparison, and there are definitely similarities, but the territory here is much different. Moon Knight, aka Marc Spector, may not be fully in touch with reality, having been murdered by a colleague, and then resurrected by the Egyptian god of the Moon, Khonshu--a god who demands vengeance. Spector communicates with Khonshu, as well as with a nemesis Moon Knight killed in a rather violent fashion. During the encounter where he murdered his nemesis, Moon Knight was injured severely--so this book starts out with Spector addicted to pain medication, and having made a mess of his entire life. The story here is of how and why he comes back--with a number of intriguing characters along the way. Not for those who are queasy about violence, the book is an engaging tale of madness and the demands of vengeful gods.

Huh. So perhaps Moon Knight is always starting over? Is all about always starting over? Kind of cool and creepy. And gave some real info about the cast. Just not sure who the main character is. I mean I get that it is Moon Knight and that he has multiple different personas. But it's just so chaotic. Cool art though. And interesting writing. Would have been better without Taskmaster.

There was a lot here. Some good, some bad, but it was all a lot. Not sure how to feel about this one.

Still, the answer is the same. How could I live any other way?

The show definitely sparked my interest. I’ve been reading more and more comics and graphic novels, but Moon Knight is a new character to me. So, outside of the Oscar Isaac show, this is my first introduction to the character.

Well, four episodes into the show and I can safely safe that both it and this confused me, haha. I think that’s the point, though. It’s meant to show you how chaotic and fractured Marc has become under Khonshu’s control.

The art in this is epic. Sublime. Shocking. Visceral. So, so well done. The storyline was intriguing and intense, splintered and chaotic to mirror what Marc is experiencing. Very interested to see where the comics go!

This is a much grimmer Moon Knight than the version by Jeff Lemire. That was was light, fun and entertaining action. Here the world is darker and much grimmer. Moon Knight has lost a fight, was badly injured and ceased being a hero. The title seems to indicated where Marc Spector is at the beginning of this comic—the bottom.

The artwork is darker as well, with a very plastic look. Which I like. Although we are a bit over the top anatomically and proportionally slightly off. Which I don‘t like. The look of that first supervillain is also pretty creepy. So quite a different kettle of fish to Lemire. Violent and bloody.

Chapter #1 shows us Moon Knight in his prime and then Marc Spector at the bottom…

Chapter #2 shows us how he got there. He is badly injured in a fight and gives himself up. Lost faith, maybe? In Konshu and/or himself?

Frenchie, Marlene and Crawley make an appearance, so I guess they are recurring characters.

We get some backstory, mixed with Spector struggling away from that bottom. Well told.

Szóval másoknak is tudom ajánlani kiindulópontként, akik érdeklődnek a karakter iránt.
