I am at a loss here.

I have never read a book that made me tear up as quick as this one did. It hit its mark, HARD.

I have never read anything from Skyler before this was a #booktok rec and I can't say that I am disappointed at all.
Whitney is on all accounts at the end of her rope and rightly so.. I could never go to the lengths that she does with Mark.
Oh Mark.. I wanted to give a swift kick to the family jewels but how Whitney handles him is even better. The saying kill em with kindness could never be more true here.
Mark is a bastard plain and simple but when his lifestyle is threatened oh boy does he want things to change.

“You’ve had my heart for twenty-three years. It took me losing yours for me to realize it, but I paid heavily, and now I don’t have any heart left. You took it from me, piece by piece. It’s gone now.”

I cannot wait to read the next part even though I just know that it is going to rip my heart out and have me sweating from my eyes. I fully accept that.

Until then.. I will wonder what happens with Whitney & Mark

I thought my heart was going to beat right out of my chest. These two are grappling with an infidelity that rocked their relationship and changed the entire course of their life together.

She had an affair 15 years ago and when her husband found  out, he punished her all those years by constantly cheating on her. This book leads to the divorce part.

If it’s someone I know who can bring angst is Skyler Mason. I can’t wait for the next one to come out. Mark suffering makes me very happy Ngl

This story authentic and captured that reality of martial struggles. I appreciated the imperfection of the characters and the relatable issues. Loved this story and can’t wait for the second part.

I know this is gonna be such a shitty duet but like it's so good at the same time. These types of books are my guilty pleasures like they make me feel so much. At times I can even feel my hands shaking from rage. You know damn well ill be continuing to read part 2.

Whitney is not innocent in this but nobody deserves what she went through. The most happy healthy ending would be that they split up, she finds a nice man that treats her right and he stays single his entire life regretting what he did.

I can understand revenge cheating like that's horrible to do that to someone but for 15 years???? BFFR. like miss girl put up with all this shit for 15 years just because of her guilt??? How much of a doormat do you have to be like it just baffles me. And nobody tried to help her?? Like she in a world full of billionaires, there must have been someone that was willing to help considering everyone knows what a piece of shit mark was.

Also the notion that Whitney was staying together for the kids like their life wasn't miserable because of the toxic relationship between the parents. I don't care what anyone says, if your relationship is that toxic please divorce. As a child, do you know how damaging it is for you to inflict on your child, the amount of trauma that comes from that?? Children are just going to grow up looking at this toxic relationship and just thinking that it is normal.

ALSO WHY TF ARE WE TALKING ABOUT TIKTOK??? it's not hippy and trendy like you want it to come across as. It's cringy like how dare you put something like that in a book. I see enough of tiktok in my daily life, I don't need it in a book as well.

We all know where this is going to go. She is going to get back with him, Colin or whatever his name is will discover Whitney cheated as well and he won't talk to Whitney for a few days. After that he'll talk again, they'll go to therapy or something and he won't resent mark anymore. She gets back with mark because that's what her body wants. *eyeroll*. He grovels a little but definitely not enough for anyone's liking. The new guy will be like. "I see you guys love each other, I will leave and I think you should get back together." No one will care about the abuse that Whitney went through for 15 years and it will all be about poor old mark trying to rectify his mistakes and just because he bought a few flowers he deserves forgiveness now. There will be a little back and forth before they finally get together and live happily ever after as a happy family.

PREDICTABLE PLOT.

I'll come back to see if I was right.

Oh my gosh.

Lord, help this couple. When you hold onto a person/idea/thing/way of thinking for too long this is what can happen. An environment you've become numb to.

This is chock FULL of anger, regrets. If you love the idea of someone (or the wrong idea you have of that person) more than the person and they stumble...

I chew up anger/toxicity/regrets like no body's business. Be warned about that. Main guy here is something else.

Characters here are in the authors book Purity if you want more. And also a part 2!
