I loved the more academic parts of the memoir and how well she fused her personal experiences with insightful analysis.

this memoir shines when kadlec writes about her experiences of queerness, and there is a lot to love here. the incorporation of american history/politics is both interesting and a little rote at times - i’m more curious about her personal experience and i’m left with questions! i found the ending a bit cliche (stop acting like the pandemic is over!) and like it tied it all up with a bow when i am more interested in the messy, ongoing truth. it is fascinating to read about american evangelicalism

Never have I felt more seen while reading about someone else's experience stepping away from Christianity. This is spectacular.
