Richard Russo skriver med en underfundig humor. Det er de små, skæve sætninger, der gør hans bøger morsomme på en afdæmpet måde.

Ingen er fuldkommen er befolket med uperfekte mennesker. Det er nok det der gør, at jeg til en hvis grad kommer til at holde af dem, selvom de fleste har store fejl og i bund og grund opfører sig horibelt. 

Skrivestilen kan sine steder være gnidret med lange sætninger. Lange sætninget med flere lange indskudte sætninger. Så det skete mere end en gang, jeg lige måtte tilbage og læse et afsnit igen.
Men alt i alt en rigtig god oplevelse, og jeg forventer at besøge North Bath igen i de resterende to bøger i triologien.

I can't get excited about this. I've heard great things, and it really does sound like my cup of tea, but I did start reading it and couldn't get into it. I'll likely try to read this another time when I'm more in the mood.

This is the Seinfeld of books. It's about nothing and goes nowhere, and yet it's well written enough to keep you reading.

Even though this book started out slowly, it was worth it to keep going through it. The novel followed the lives of people living in a small town in New England, mostly focusing on Sully, a man who always seems to make bad decisions. Deep down, though, he is a good guy who just has a lot of relationship issues, not unlike most people. These issues are explored throughout the book, as he deals with an aging landlady, his best friend, and his son, among others. The characters are flawed, but realistically so and could easily have been neighbors to anyone across America. Though rather slow-paced, it was definitely a book worth reading. I give it a B-.

I usually love Russo, but this one lagged a bit for me. I wanted to like the characters more. They weren't as compelling as I wanted them to be.
