Willa Cather's writing is so beautiful. I did not expect this one to make me cry but it did.

This was another reread from a while ago and I was surprised how much of an easy read it was. It was a short and sweet novel that got straight to the point in terms of conflict, establishing the setting, and the message. Honestly, I feel like it could have been interesting to know more about what happened between the time jumps. I loved the place making that Cather did of the west and the land, it was a character in of its self. I just was a little dissatisfied with the ending, especially with the villainizing of Marie and Emil but overall enjoyed!
