Such a fun cute read!! I could not put it down once I started. The wilderness trip storyline was like reliving my trail crew summer, made me miss it and all the people. I could relate to this book too much, and loved the character development of Helen learning to love life.
Favorite quote from the book that hit home so much: “But it would never be this group again, in this place, with these circumstances. This was a moment in time that was already lost.”. Literally teared up because I felt that so hard after my summer in the wilderness having an experience of a life time with people I never expected to know.
Jake was a cute male lead, and it’s fun to see an age difference you don’t see much.

This book was incredibly readable. Helen is a great character and Jake is adorable. I'll admit, having watched the movie first, I did tend to superimpose the characters from the film into the story as I read.
This was better than the movie in many ways. Helen was more likeable and her motivation made more sense.
A lot of fun and just enough sadness to make it really, really sweet.
