this was pretty cute! definitely better than what you wish for, though that’s not a high bar lol :/

- i liked both main characters and seeing them get closer! i wasn’t a huge fan of the age gap, but i liked their shared vocabulary
- the story and setting was fun and engaging, and Helen’s individual character growth was great
- i didn’t like the miscommunication with Windy and the kisses; it felt very much like a forced plot point for the sake of plot (like it was very out of character for Jake to not realize his actions were insensitive)

in conclusion: some things had me scratching my head, but the book was def better than the movie, which simplified a lot of the individual character development in favor of the romance

This book reminded me a lot of DofE.
I can’t tell if that’s a good thing.

In all seriousness though, a very cute story and the setting was beautiful, the writing style felt slightly juvenile to me? But I doubt others will share the sentiment.
