Being “in love” with your cousin’s wife is so icky of you Michael. And then seducing her to try to force her into marriage after your cousin/her husband dies. Super duper icky.
This book does have the best sex scenes of the whole series, (unfortunate as it’s still weird with the whole dead husbands cousin like a brother thing) as he is super explicit with asking her consent. And since there’s no SA in this book, although I don’t love it, it fares somewhere in the upper middle of my rankings for this series by default.

Sorry, no. The depiction of India. "Females". And the weirdly coercive sex scene. No.
Graphic: Sexual content, Death, and Miscarriage
Moderate: Racism, Colonisation, and Sexism

Spoilers!!!!
Originally I didn’t like this and I don’t think this was the most enticing romance. There are better stories in this series.
What put me off was the incest?? The husband passed away and then the cousin and wife got together and name their child after the deceased husband

Simple perfection. Michael & Francesca were made for each other; and this depiction of grief and longing were expertly done. My personal favorite of the Bridgerton series, and one I'm sure I'll reread over and over again.

Very different from all of the other Bridgertons, but I did enjoy it overall. Michael’s POV at the start just made me feel sad for him honestly, but what a guy
