If the title of the book is spelt malice why is her name in the book spelt malyce? I liked the start of the book but the ending was stupid and angered me

This book really dragged on and on. I usually love books with "unlikable" main characters, but the MC here is just annoying and constantly repeats how she is ugly, unwanted, evil, etc. Over and over again--we get it! It would have been a much better book without that. This was the case with several characters--they had these lines they would just keep repeating and it was boring. I also didn't feel the romance very much. I also found it to be very predictable, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. However, the ending did prompt me to read the next book because I had to know what happened.

Reading slump, 0; Alexa, 1. I loved this a whole lot, I fear—the underlying message of society creating the very monsters it most believes in was an absolute punch to the gut. And the entire third act was basically “Defying Gravity” from Wicked, if “Defying Gravity” was super alarming and bloody and upsetting but…still lowkey getting the blood pumping. (Whatever. I’ll own up to that.) Plus, like, it’s queer sleeping beauty? Where the witch kisses the princess? Somebody out there has been reading my Christmas list already.

I thought this would be basically Maleficient falling in love with Aurora.
3.5 stars! a beautiful retelling of sleeping beauty from a sapphic perspective!! i was entranced from the beginning with the storytelling in this book. Alyce, though a “villain” was a thrilling protagonist, and watching her and Aurora’s fates intertwine was so exciting! the entire magical system was very interesting, as well as the politics behind the graces and their “employment” to the crown. watching alyce come to terms with her power in a world that hates her is so difficult, but my attachment to alyce guided me through the second-hand anguish. aurora is the perfect “not-so-perfect” princess. the shortcomings are in the development (or lack there of) of the secondary characters. towards the end they get muddied and lost in their archetypes, and i wish they became more three dimensional. however, i still completely recommend this book to any fairytale lover! especially sapphics!!
