Slow start, but the last 100 pages were perfect. Alyce at the end of the book was the Alyce I wanted to see the whole time. Can't wait to see where the sequel will go.

It has been roughly 32 hours since I completed this and I am still emotionally devastated. This is Sleeping Beauty by way of Carrie
with a twist of Iron Widow at the end
. It's definitely a slowburn, but when the climax kicks in,
it's just a neverending parade of EVERYTHING going wrong for the protagonist, truly a hurt/no comfort scenario. I genuinely have no idea how there could be a happy ending to this duology, but the genre kind of demands it.
I will need at least 3-5 business days before I even think of picking up the next book.
