It started a little too slow for me but I pushed through and it was definitely worth it!

This was a reread and I still loved it just as much this time, as I did the first time I read it. Can't wait to start Misrule!

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this book. I read it in one sitting (for book club) and it definitely kept me engaged to do so. But the blurb gave away the book? Like there weren't any surprises along the way. It's really like a prequel to the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale and not a retelling itself, kind of like Wicked by Gregory McGuire actually. I'd heard there was a big cliffhanger, but I don't think there was? Like I really don't think I need the second book at all. I was also expecting a bigger romance, but that's probably just the usual BookTok inflation.

The writing was great and the magic system was excellent. So I do recommend it, just don't read the back right before reading the book itself.

Its one of those times where I regret waiting so long to pick this up.

Really enjoyed the world building and the idea of the Graces. I really liked Alyce as a character (not so much Aurora) and where this plot goes overall.

A little predictable in some parts and there was a small lull in the middle but the ending more than makes up for it. I will definitely be getting my hands on the last book to see how this story ends.

Audio review! Loved the narration! Story was good not great — I loved the sapphic romance in this retelling of sleeping beauty. Definitely more of a Maleficent origin story tho. If you’re keen on Disney I’d say go for it.

Wow wow wow. This book. As a Disney and a book fan, this book gave me EVERYTHING. When the book first began I was a little unsure, but then out of nowhere it threw me into the action and I just couldn't get enough! I adore Alice, like I think I fell in love with her tbh. She was incredibly written, and her arc was just

This book is beautiful. The darkness, the longing, the slow build of romance, all of it.

This is a f/f sleeping beauty retelling and it’s magical to it’s core. I’m a sucker for retellings but this took me completely by surprise. The writing style makes everything so atmospheric and I immediately fell in love with the world and characters. I love the addition of magic/magical beings with the history of the story, it made it feel so much more original and made the story unpredictable in the best of ways.

I’m so happy I came across this on NetGalley and was approved for an arc, this has been one of my favorite reads of the year and I’m going to be pushing it on everyone once it’s released.
