I had really high hopes for this book but it was ultimately disappointing. Alyce is told from a very young age that she’s evil, that she’s a villain, that it’s in her blood… well, she certainly proves them right!

Whilst she’s not the brightest of protagonists, her change is abrupt and not in keeping with the character that has developed over the book. She goes from a girl who rescues injured birds to one who murders an entire town (including the few people who have been kind to her)?

The three stars are for an engaging book - I read it over two days.
