“If someone takes away your bread, he suppresses your freedom at the same time. But if someone takes away your freedom, you may be sure that your bread is threatened, for it depends no longer on you and your struggle, but on the whim of a master“

“Many laws consider a premeditated crime more serious than a crime of pure violence. But what then is capital punishment but the most premeditated of murders, to which no criminals deed, however calculated it may be, can be compared?”

This was one of my first entries into the field of philosophy and I deeply enjoyed every aspect of it. The collection presented here gives a clear and precise idea of what kind of man Camus was, or strived to be. I hope I can carry some of his ideals and thoughts with me as I grow and learn even more.
