I loved the writing style of this book and how the author wrote simply as the spoken language as is the style for the geographical area.  It was interesting learning about Bell’s regret and what drove him to be who he was in life and do what he did. And how he saw his regret as stealing his own life. His reflections  a memories as he book went on really have an insight into his character and his view on not only the changing world but also what memories of his past world were true or not. The character Llewelyn was also told very well. His character told of luck and what luck meant to him and how he always seemed to have it. But we also know he was smart and we later learned a sniper but that fateful decision to take wasn’t his to make his life better wasn’t going to do that. We also learned that while he had faith in himself that he could do it and take care of himself his wife did not. Which in the end, was probably the death of them both. Chigurh, well he  created his own belief of fate. He twisted circumstances to equal his idea of the fate outcome. His weapon of choice gives the thought that he has no consciousness of empathy nor sees people as people. His sense of right and wrong is touched upon when you see what he does when he gets the money… and gives it back it’s all for an even greater good for himself. The ending is a thoughtful one. The sheriff is talking about his dad and memories of him and he speaks about a couple of dreams. One in particular about his dad riding  a horse in the dark past him with a lit fire. Not saying a word but the sheriff knew whenever he got to the afterlife his dad would be there waiting with his fathers comfort.

Llewellyn and Chigurh are some of the most entertaining character to shadow for a few days. The latter being a frightening man acting more like a force than a human and the former trying to avoid the latter with all his wit and will. McCarthy will paint a landscape with words into your Brain and you'll be there without ever leaving your room.

There is a lot I think I should say about this book. There's a richness of themes all throughout, up to the very end.
I could maybe try to articulate as best as I can my thoughts about how the story conveys a sort of feeling of impending doom, of everything ending in the worst way, and that it is unstoppable.
Or maybe about how Chigurh is an amazing character in many ways, not only because of what he does and says, but what he represents, what he becomes.
Also I could try and talk about the way it communicates this sense impending doom even outside the scope of the story, but of society, of the hopes of future generations.
But I think I'll just say this, this book made me think a whole lot and it fascinated me in the most unexpected fashion and that is all I can ask from a book.
