Yes this is a creepy read, although in the end it felt like a few too many strings to tie up (why the recruitment soldiers? Who are they and where do they come from? If they're from the island how come they get to leave and don't have to do the 1994 reenactment?). I felt it was a bit too long and by pg 300 I was ready to move on. I enjoyed the scary elements, and the ancient evil felt was decidedly disturbing. This was the first 'scary' book I've read in a while that was actually somewhat scary/creepy so that was a nice change.

I loved the actual story itself and I thought the found footage aspect of it was really well done. I felt for the people on the Island,  but I really felt like the pacing of the book could've been better. I enjoyed the set up, and thought the information was good, but the climax felt rushed. I wish we had spent more time at the end.
