3.5 stars rounded up. This was pretty ridiculous and out there enough that I couldn’t help loving it, even though I’m not entirely positive it’s a great novel

nothing much going on tbh! a promising plot falling flat due to lacklustre characters and extremely slow storytelling.

Déjà vu? More like Déjà-woo this one got me a couple times! “Dead Eleven” is essentially what would happen if “Groundhog Day,” “The Village,” and “Cabin in the Woods” had a threesome and then nine months later they all just decided to share custody and no one asks any questions. You will hear no complaints from me on the epistolary-esque writing technique: I love narrative embellishment! It’s a fun and creative way to drive a story forward! It’s not fucking Proust LIVE A LITTLE. Anyways, pick this up if you like corny horror flicks, you’ll have a blast.
Definitely felt a bit “no-sleepy” at times but Juliano cultivated a bit more depth by the end of the novel. However, there was a lot of information jammed into an entirely too long book. It makes it feel repetitive/redundant even if it wasn’t. I think if readers were given more detail of the legend and lore, instead of being told “there’s totally legend and lore,” the ending would have been more satisfying.
3.5/5 If I had to re-live the same day of my life over and over again in some kind of Twilight Zone hell, I’d want it to be something very pleasant like my first kiss or like the time I had the best Korean BBQ for lunch or driving with the top off the Jeep or watching a Charlize Theron movie marathon. Something like that and not…the OJ thing.

Super unique premise which drew me in, not very scary more kinda spooky but it was very fun
*4.5 out of 5*
This was so good! I loved the found footage aspect of it. The different types of media (recordings, letters, etc.) really kept this story feeling fresh and exciting throughout the entire 400+ pages.
I also loved that we didn't get a definitive answer about whether "the dead things" were real or not. The author sort of let the evidence speak for itself, and to me, it felt like it was up to the reader to decide if we believed it or not.
The only thing that took away from this being 5 stars was that the ending felt a tiny bit anticlimactic in comparison to the amount of build-up there was. But overall, this was an excellent read!
