I liked this book but i felt like there wasn't enough Simon and Baz which i think is a fairly common issue with the book. It also felt like it was trying to hard to be like Harry Potter, almost like the novel had to be loved as much as the book? ( I understand what I mean :)) Another note is that I guest the 'plot twist' in the first 50 pages of the book, but it doesn't ruin the enjoyment of the story but it would have been nice to have been blown away.

But overall i really did enjoy the story and i shipped Simon and Baz.

It's like reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Reading the last book in a series but if you've read Fangirl already then you're not lost.

I am ridiculously happy that she wrote Simon Snow books after Fangirl. I loved Fangirl and kept wanting more of Simon Snow. This book was everything I hoped for for Simon Snow and so much more. I can't wait to read more of his story.

When I first picked up this book I felt like I might accidentally have picked up book 6 or 7 of a series. The author kept referencing all these climatic fights and events and it took me a while before I realized that the story wasn't about all of those events, they were simply background, the story was about the people. And I found myself totally loving the characters. The dense, teenager vanity and pride was perfectly written to be both endearing and believable.

The world and history of magic is unique and well written, with a fleshed out history. The story has just the right amount of twists and hints. I really enjoyed it and recommend it highly!

There were some aspects of this book that I really liked and others that I didn’t like so much. The pacing was too slow at the beginning and too fast at the end. Some of the point of views seemed unnecessary. There was also the use of parenthesis, which I actually thought were used exceptionally well in this book but were still often unnecessary. Then again, I'm not a fan of parentheses in general outside of text messages.

At the same time, the characters were well developed, and I really liked the magic system and the concept of the Humdrum.
