A great reminder to breathe.

A lovely book I dipped into each night at bedtime for a week or so, about intuition, connection and “finding meaning in a messy world”. Some really beautiful reminders to trust the Universe a bit more and to stay open rather than close down when life gets tricky. Fearne rocks!

With thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an ARC.

This was not the book for me. I think I’m too cynical for it. I do believe in spirituality but the book was just too much. Usually I love Fearne Cotton. So I was really disappointed. I also cringed inside every time she mentioned her ‘friend’ Russel Brand.

This is the first one of Fearne Cotton's books that I've read and I enjoyed it immensely.

I started listening to the audiobook (which is read by the author so brilliantly) but switched to the e-book as I wanted to savour each section of the book and take notes as I read.

I learned a lot about different practices, tools and rituals that I hadn't previously heard of and tried some of them out while reading the corresponding section of the book. Giving myself the freedom to try new things was fun and I learned more about myself.

The author is extremely honest about her own personality, life and struggles which I was grateful for as I could relate well to some of them. She is never preachy, judgemental or condescending. The author's own comments and thoughts on her personal experiences coupled with interviews with experts and practitioners make it feel like you are reading something written by your friend or listening to your friends talk about things they're passionate about or interested in.

The author mentioned a Donna Ashworth poem in the book which I Googled and loved. It's called 'Remember Her?'

I'm so glad that I read this book and would encourage anyone to read it.

This book was exactly what I needed in this moment in my life and if that doesn’t express there is something bigger then us then I don’t know what does.

Fearne Cotton is an excellent writer, as an avid listener to her Happy Place Podcast her voice rang through my head through reading this. A book filled with honesty and vulnerability that makes me personally feel seen and understood. My neurodivergent brain loved the small headings between chapters and the mixture of prose to conversations to bullet points.

I hadn’t heard of many of the people that Fearne interviewed for this book and so it was refreshing to discover new people within the spiritual world. One of the biggest things I have taken away from this is prayer. Growing up in a Church of England school, I always thought prayer belonged to religion and I never really felt any connection with Christianity. Since reading this book I have been praying daily to the higher power and it has been incredibly healing already. Talking out loud and trusting something bigger then us is listening, without judgement has opened my mind.

As a fellow Virgo and enneagram 2, Fearne is someone I relate to quite naturally. I would recommend this to anyone who wishes they had a belief but doesn’t connect with any particular religion and to any intrigued by spirituality. It is a beautiful book.
