this was en route to being a 5 star read for like 350 pages...and then it took that direction that it did. without spoiling, all i want to say is i wish it stayed pure horror the entire time as opposed to a mix of other genres.

loved the beginning, the overall writing, the short chapters, & the various character povs though!

I wish I could give this book 10 ⭐️. I absolutely loved it. Excellent characters, good and evil ones, and the descriptions of the different locations were spot on. This book scared the crap out of me and that’s saying something. I’ve read other horror novels, including Stephen King, and my reaction was always « meh ». This one snagged me from the very beginning! It felt a little too long and like there were maybe too many threads to the story but I still liked it and looked up to picking it up each time.
