This was very weird but super endearing and more emotional then I was expected. I just really like Dan Santat and his style.

This was a well executed, touching graphic novel that you’ll enjoy while it lasts and likely forget about within days of finishing. It’s a cute story that’s well drawn but the only really unique element is the aquanaut itself and even that isn’t really utilized to its fullest extent. Check it out if you think you might dig it; just don’t expect it to hit the same heights as Beekle.

A group of sea creatures observes the sinking of a research ship and the drowning of one of the researchers. The surviving brother of the researcher keeps his brother's vision alive by running a seaside marine park; however, as funds run short, he is coerced into exploiting animals such as an orca for patrons' entertainment. When the Aquanaut
Spoiler(the group of sea creatures who can understand humans but cannot speak English themselves, who have inhabited an old sea diving suit)
shows up at the marine park, the dead researcher's daughter interacts with him, setting off a chain of events that results in her and her uncle's rethinking how they want to live the rest of their lives and how best to honor the dead researcher's wishes.

A group of sea creatures seeks safety on land. A group of humans find solace on the sea.
