Imagine that the "Tank Gang" from Finding Nemo build a walking fish powered robot in a diving suit and then went looking around at the beach and amusement pier. Now add in a healthy dash of grief and family healing.  Be prepared for tears and zany aquatic antics!

Elements of deep sea adventure, a broken family that needs healing, and sea creatures both naturally fascinating and fantastically intelligent. Santat's illustration style has long been a favorite of mine, and seeing this foray into a graphic novel from picture-book-land was a solid delight. I look forward to reading this again and finding more details to discover.

Includes discussion and depiction of animal cruelty and caregiver death.
