This has been my favourite book in the series thus far. I enjoyed the main villain, his back story was interesting and quite sad when you really think about it. Alex has now been put through even more trauma (that will barely get metioned). Seriously the adults suck in the series. Despite that I'll keep reading cause I'm attached to Alex as a character. Poor kid has been through it

I'm just having a lot of fun reading the Alex Rider books. Are they realistic? Nope. Does everything happen too quickly? Yep. Are they still great? Yep.

Review - It's the first time Alex actually has to save the entire world from a mad man. It's also the first time he really sees an agent die. He has to face his own mortality. This book deals with some darker themes than the previous two Alex Rider novels (Stormbreaker and Point Blanc) - the literal end of the world, and madness. In this way, this book is probably better than the earlier two, but there is a lot less action which, when you read a spy novel, you expect. Hence the three stars rather than four.
